Kites – how to choose and what are the differences?

Even though drizzly weather invites you to relax at home under a blanket, there’s one activity that’s truly typical—flying kites. A large kite, with a reel, for kids or for adults? There are plenty of options, and here’s an overview.

Classic single-line kite

Single-line kites are the ones you know from childhood. The control—and therefore the way they fly—is always the same. You handle the kite using a single string or line, which limits how precisely you can steer it. The biggest differences in this category are in the construction, materials, and design. A quality flying kite can be with or without a tail; the tail is a design element and helps with stability in the wind. Kites are available in 3D models, from classic shapes to unusual ones like a butterfly, parrot, or even an airplane.

Stunt kite – dual-line

As the name suggests, a dual-line kite is suited to more precise control, spins, and other tricks. Because of this, it’s best for older children and adults. The kite’s shape resembles a hang glider. The frame is sturdier and reinforced. You control it with two lines attached symmetrically to each wing, allowing you to perform various tricks and loops. The price reflects these features and is higher than for single-line kites.

We recommend flying a kite in a sufficiently wide open area, away from footpaths, bike paths, and roads. Watch out for uneven ground, high-voltage power lines, trees, as well as bushes and tall grass.

Now just wait for the wind and you’re good to head outside.
