Create your own hero and save Avel from the dangerous Monster!
Welcome to Avel: a world where dozens of moons hang in the sky day and night. These magical celestial bodies, said to be inhabited by gods, send enchanted gifts to the people. Thanks to them, wizards weave spells, druids help farmers tend their crops, and children can play in streams that flow above the ground. But there’s no time for that now, because Kurodar, the Black Moon, has approached Avel, and its ominous magic has awakened forces of evil. Dangerous creatures have always lurked in forests, caves, and other dark places, but now they have swarmed out, their hateful gaze fixed on the castle. It’s up to you to save the land from their destructive designs!
Chronicles of Avel Castle is a cooperative board game for the whole family, in which you take on the roles of heroes responsible for saving a magical land. During the game, we create our own characters with unique names and special equipment, then explore the world as we move across a modular board. Along the way, we face many dangers and must fight them; each victory brings a specific reward: new weapons, armor, potions, and gold. The loot we gather will prepare us for the final showdown with the monster that threatens the Kingdom of Avel.
What’s it about?
Every game of Avel begins with creating your own character. You can color and decorate the universal hero illustration however you like. Don’t forget to design a unique coat of arms and choose the most heroic of heroic names! Once everyone is ready, the fun can begin.
The goal is to explore new corners of the land, fight monsters, and develop your character to be as prepared as possible for the final clash with the Monster, which appears after a set number of rounds. Avel is a cooperative game, which means all players work together as a team, and one player’s success is the success of the whole group.
The game is played over rounds, during which players take their turns. On your turn, you can move around the board, use special actions at visited locations, rest, or fight monsters by rolling dice and using your equipment. This way you gain new items to help in future battles. Every action you take affects the team’s situation and influences the strategy you choose.
After a certain number of rounds, the Monster appears. From that moment, your main task is to defeat it—and its minions—before they reach the castle.
