Discover a new way to interact with your favorite Nintendo character. When you tap the figure on the NFC touchpoint of the Wii U GamePad controller, a Joy-Con, the bottom of New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL handhelds, or a special device for older Nintendo 3DS family systems while playing, data is transferred into the game that you can use in many ways. In some games, data will also be written back to your figure, letting you create truly unique amiibo figures.

Compatibility with New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS/2DS

Amiibo figures can also be used on handheld consoles! New Nintendo 3DS includes built-in NFC technology, allowing you to connect an amiibo to the game by simply placing it on the bottom touch screen. For use with Nintendo 3DS and 2DS, a special accessory can be purchased.
