Plesiosaurs were Mesozoic marine reptiles. The largest forms of these predators reached lengths of over 15 meters. Their swimming style was very unusual for aquatic reptiles, yet it was energy efficient. In 1816, plesiosaur fossils were also discovered in the territory of France.
