With his small portable workspace, sculptor François Pompon (1855–1933) often strolled through Paris's Jardin des Plantes, observing animals and crafting their miniature models. In his studio, he carved bears, panthers, dogs, chickens, and rabbits, simplifying forms to capture the essence of each creature. Animals come to life before visitors at the Musée d'Orsay, home to many of these statues. Artist Gérard Lo Monaco reinterpreted Pompon's sculptures, collaborating with RMN (a collection of 34 museums) and Musée d'Orsay to honor Pompon with this beautiful series of wooden toys.
