Bend the tab using small needle-nose pliers (not included) and gradually secure all connections to create a very realistic masterpiece! Recommended age: 14+. Tower Bridge is a bascule bridge in London over the River Thames. Next to it stands the Tower of London, from which it takes its name. Construction began in 1886 and lasted 8 years. Five main contractors and 432 workers took part in the work. To support the bridge’s stability, two massive piers were laid on the riverbed; each contained more than 70,000 tons of concrete. The framework of the towers and the bridge itself was built from more than 11,000 tons of steel, and Cornish granite and Portland stone were used as cladding to protect the steel structure and enhance the appearance.
