Gradually expand sentences like 'A large elephant goes to the river. A small elephant is in the river. What kind is it? The elephant is big. The elephant has a long trunk. What are his two big "teeth" called?'
• Practice articulation by imitating animal sounds: Monkeys make 'Uuuu'. Roar like a lion with 'Uaaa'. Trumpet like an elephant. What sounds does a crocodile make? Mimic a parrot.
• For older children, ask questions about the images: 'Who might an elephant meet at the watering hole? Where can elephants live? Let children discuss colors in the images. Which colors are the same and why? What do animals eat? Which animals are carnivores?'
• Use paper and crayons to draw the animals depicted in the puzzle. Try tracing the puzzle pieces to create outlines for other animals. Draw environments like the savannah, jungle, or ocean.
