Discover a new way to interact with your favorite Nintendo character. When you tap the figure on the NFC touchpoint of the Wii U GamePad while playing, data is transferred into the game that you can use in many ways. As you play, the data in your figure will be updated—so keep playing and create your own unique amiibo! The first set of figures is for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Watch your amiibo and its upgrades in battle
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you can transfer data from your amiibo figure directly into the game and then battle with it. Over time in battle, your amiibo will be enhanced with additional skills and in-game attributes—such as increased strength and new moves. You can also add your own customized moves!

Amiibo figures can also be used when playing on handheld consoles! New Nintendo 3DS includes built-in NFC technology that allows you to connect an amiibo figure to the game simply by placing it on the bottom touch screen. For use with Nintendo 3DS and 2DS, special accessories will be available for purchase, planned for release in 2015.
