The drakkar was the largest of the ship types (langskips) used by the Vikings.
Vessels of this type could reach lengths of up to 45 meters and had up to 34 pairs of oars, though drakkars about 20 to 35 meters long were more commonly built.
Drakkars were seagoing vessels, allowing them to sail freely in the North or Baltic Sea.
